Stremiois a cross-platform media center with a clean, Netflix-like interface. While it's best known for VOD content, you can add live IPTV channels through an M3U playlist addon — giving you a great interface for browsing Vivimate's 50,000+ channels.

Stremio is available on Windows, Mac, Android, Android TV, iPhone, and Linux — making it one of the most versatile IPTV setups available.

Important Note

Stremio's live TV experience is solid but less feature-rich than dedicated IPTV players like TiviMate. If you primarily watch live TV, consider TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro instead. Stremio shines for users who want a unified interface for both VOD and live TV.

What is Stremio?

Stremio is a free media center that aggregates content from multiple sources through a community addon system. Out of the box, it offers VOD content discovery. Add-ons extend it with live TV, torrent streams, streaming services, and more.

What You Need

  • Stremio installed and a free account created
  • Your Vivimate M3U URL (format it as shown below)
  • A stable internet connection (10 Mbps+ for HD)

Step 1: Get Your Vivimate M3U URL

Stremio uses M3U format rather than Xtream Codes API. Your M3U URL is generated from your Xtream Codes credentials using this format:

http://[YOUR_SERVER]/get.php?username=[USERNAME]&password=[PASSWORD]&type=m3u_plus&output=ts

Replace [YOUR_SERVER], [USERNAME], and [PASSWORD] with your Vivimate credentials from your WhatsApp activation message. Contact Vivimate support if you need your M3U URL generated for you.

Step 2: Install Stremio

Windows / Mac

Download from stremio.com and install like any desktop app.

Android / Android TV

Search for 'Stremio' in the Google Play Store and install.

Amazon Fire TV

Use the Downloader app to sideload Stremio APK, or find it on the Amazon App Store.

iPhone / iPad

Available on the Apple App Store.

After installing, create a free Stremio account and sign in.

Step 3: Install the M3U Playlist Addon

1

In Stremio, click the puzzle piece icon (Add-ons) in the top navigation bar.

2

In the search bar, type 'M3U Playlist' or search for 'IPTV'.

3

Find the 'Community M3U Streams' addon or a similar M3U player addon.

4

Click Install and confirm.

5

Once installed, the addon will appear in your addon list.

Step 4: Add Your Vivimate M3U URL

1

Go to Add-ons → My Add-ons and find the M3U Playlist addon you installed.

2

Click Configure (gear icon).

3

Paste your Vivimate M3U URL in the playlist URL field.

4

If your addon supports EPG, also paste your EPG URL (available from Vivimate support).

5

Click Submit or Save.

6

Wait for Stremio to index your channels — this can take 1–2 minutes for large playlists.

Step 5: Watch Your IPTV Channels

Once your M3U playlist is loaded:

  • Go to the TV section in the Stremio sidebar.
  • Browse channels by category or use the search bar to find specific channels.
  • Click a channel to start streaming.
  • Stremio will use its built-in player or your configured external player.

Stremio IPTV Troubleshooting

Channels not showing after adding M3U

Wait up to 5 minutes for the full playlist to index. If still empty, verify your M3U URL is correct by opening it in a browser — it should display raw channel data.

Stream keeps buffering or freezing

Switch to a wired connection if on Wi-Fi. Also try changing the Stremio player settings to use a different playback engine or external player like VLC.

Video plays but no audio

This is a codec issue. Enable hardware acceleration in Stremio settings or use an external player that supports more audio codecs (VLC or MX Player).

M3U URL produces an error in Stremio

Ensure your URL includes &type=m3u_plus at the end. Some Stremio addons require the URL to end with a .m3u extension — add &output=ts if needed.

For a richer live TV experience with full EPG and recording, try TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro.
